Giga Energy Expands U.S. Transformer Manufacturing to Support AI and Data Center Growth
Giga Energy, a U.S.-based manufacturer and developer of critical power infrastructure, has announced the launch of a new medium-voltage (MV) transformer manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. The 60,000-square-foot factory will serve as the company’s primary U.S. production hub for medium-voltage transformers, strengthening domestic supply at a time when transformer shortages are delaying new power projects nationwide.
The Houston MV factory is expected to begin production in Q1 2026 and scale to more than 3,000 transformer units annually, representing approximately 15 gigawatts of capacity per year. This expansion directly addresses one of the biggest bottlenecks in modern energy infrastructure: the limited availability of transformers required to bring new power capacity online for data centers, AI workloads, and industrial growth.
Beyond manufacturing, the MV Houston Factory significantly enhances Giga Energy’s capabilities as a developer and operator of data center infrastructure. Electrical equipment produced at the facility will support the company’s plans to deliver over 500 megawatts of new capacity in 2026, helping meet the rapidly rising power demands of AI hyperscalers, enterprise customers, and high-density computing operations.
Giga Energy is also leveraging the new facility to accelerate its turnkey data center site development, offering ready-to-deploy infrastructure for major AI operators. In addition, the company’s owner-operated colocation sites will provide flexible rack configurations, enabling AI developers to quickly deploy GPUs and scale workloads without long lead times.
As demand for AI infrastructure, data centers, and reliable power systems continues to surge, Giga Energy’s Houston expansion positions the company as a key player in strengthening U.S. energy resilience and supporting the next generation of AI-driven innovation.
