Databricks, a global leader in data and AI solutions, has officially opened its new office in the America Free Zone (AFZ) in Heredia, Costa Rica. This major milestone highlights the company’s growing investment in Latin America and its commitment to tapping into Costa Rica’s exceptional talent.
Since launching operations in Costa Rica in 2023, Databricks has seen rapid growth—expanding its team to nearly 200 employees. Riding on this momentum, the company plans to add 100 more jobs by the end of 2025, further boosting its local presence and underlining Costa Rica’s importance in supporting customers across Latin America.
Over the past year, Databricks has experienced more than 150% business growth in the region. The company has been instrumental in supporting prominent clients like BAC Latam, Nubank, Grupo Bimbo, iFood, Bineo, and Kueski—helping them streamline data and drive innovation with its powerful Data Intelligence Platform.
Databricks’ expansion isn’t limited to Costa Rica. The company is also growing its operations in São Paulo, Brazil, and has recently set up a new office in Mexico City to meet rising demand across the region.
“Costa Rica is a key part of our international growth,” said Rory Patterson, Chief of Staff to the CEO and VP of Corporate Operations at Databricks. “Our Latin America teams aren’t just supporting our business—they’re leading new AI and automation initiatives that drive innovation across the company. This growth is a reflection of the exceptional local talent.”
Local leaders have also praised Databricks’ expansion. Manuel Tovar, Costa Rica’s Minister of Foreign Trade, stated that the move highlights the country’s strength as a tech hub for Latin America, supported by a skilled workforce, stable business climate, and strong digital infrastructure.
“This expansion reaffirms the trust global companies place in Costa Rica,” said Laura López, CEO of PROCOMER. “We’re proud that knowledge-based services like those offered by Databricks now account for 30% of the country’s exports, showcasing the power of our digital transformation capabilities.”
“At Databricks, we’re committed to building with the best talent,” added Ariel Vargas, Director of International & LATAM Operations. “Our new office will be a vital hub for innovation, collaboration, and customer support across Latin America.”
As Databricks continues to grow, its Costa Rica office will play a key role in scaling operations, creating opportunities, and driving data and AI innovation throughout the region.
