India’s infrastructure giant, Adani Group, has announced a landmark $100 billion investment by 2035 to develop renewable energy-powered data centres purpose-built for Artificial Intelligence (AI) workloads. This move represents one of India’s largest private sector commitments to digital and AI infrastructure.
Building India’s Sovereign AI Infrastructure Backbone
The ambitious plan aims to establish a sovereign energy and computing backbone that will power India’s rapidly expanding AI ecosystem. According to the group, this initiative could catalyse an additional $150 billion in investments across:

- Advanced electrical and cooling systems
- Grid-resilient digital infrastructure
Collectively, this could create a projected $250 billion AI-driven digital ecosystem, positioning India as a global AI infrastructure powerhouse.
Expansion of AdaniConnex Data Centre Capacity
The roadmap significantly expands the capabilities of AdaniConnex, increasing its national data centre capacity from 2 gigawatts (GW) to 5 GW.
The platform integrates:

- Grid resilience and stability
- High-density AI computing infrastructure
This unified architecture ensures sustainability while supporting next-generation AI workloads, including generative AI, machine learning, and hyperscale cloud computing.
Strategic Partnerships with Global Tech Leaders
To accelerate development, the Adani Group has entered strategic collaborations with leading global technology companies:
- Partnering with Alphabet’s Google to develop a gigawatt-scale AI data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
- Developing additional AI campuses in Noida within the Delhi-National Capital Region.
- Collaborating with Microsoft on projects in Hyderabad, Telangana, and Pune, Maharashtra.
The company also confirmed discussions with other global technology firms to establish additional AI campuses across India.
