Medifast Appoints Nicholas Johnson as CEO Effective June 2026
Marketing Vogue — Medifast, Inc. has officially announced the appointment of Nicholas Johnson as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 1, 2026. Johnson will succeed Dan Chard, who will continue serving as Chairman of the Board while supporting the company’s long-term strategic vision.
The leadership transition follows a succession plan first disclosed by Medifast earlier this year and highlights the Board’s confidence in Johnson’s leadership capabilities and the company’s evolving direction in the metabolic health industry.
Dan Chard, Chairman and outgoing CEO of Medifast, praised Johnson’s contribution to the company’s transformation over recent years.
“Nick has been a driving force behind our transformation into a comprehensive metabolic health company, and the Board is confident that he is the right leader to guide Medifast into its next chapter,” said Chard. “He has played a central role in advancing our coach-led model and strengthening the business foundation for future growth.”
Johnson currently serves as President of Medifast and has worked closely with the Board and executive leadership team throughout a structured transition process designed to ensure business continuity and operational stability.
Speaking about his appointment, Nicholas Johnson emphasized the company’s mission in addressing growing metabolic health challenges worldwide.

Johnson brings nearly two decades of direct selling and leadership experience to the CEO role. Since joining Medifast in 2018 as Market President of OPTAVIA USA, he has held several senior leadership positions across the organization.
In 2020, he was appointed President, Coach and Client Experience, followed by his promotion to Chief Field Operations Officer in 2022. In that role, Johnson focused on strengthening the company’s coach-led business model and expanding operational effectiveness across the field organization.
Earlier in 2026, he was named President of Medifast, where he continued helping shape the company’s unified growth strategy during a period of significant market evolution.
Before joining Medifast, Johnson held senior leadership positions in sales, marketing, and business management at Nu Skin Enterprises.
The appointment marks a new chapter for Medifast as the company continues expanding its focus on metabolic health solutions, personalized wellness programs, and coach-driven client engagement.
