Fujitsu Helps Panasonic Group Accelerate Sustainability Management with Advanced CFP Calculation Platform
Fujitsu has announced the development of a new Carbon Footprint of Products (CFP) calculation platform for the Panasonic Group, marking a major step toward strengthening sustainability management and supply chain decarbonization.
The initiative was made possible through the implementation of Fujitsu’s “Sustainability Value Accelerator” CFP calculation solution at Panasonic Digital Co., Ltd., the IT business arm of Panasonic Group. Fujitsu will continue supporting the deployment and operational expansion of the platform across Panasonic Group companies, with full-scale operations scheduled to begin in April 2027.
Panasonic Group Advances Carbon Footprint Management
As global industries face increasing pressure to reduce environmental impact and improve ESG transparency, manufacturers are rapidly adopting digital sustainability solutions. The growing complexity of environmental regulations and the rising number of products requiring carbon footprint assessments have created significant operational challenges.
To address these issues, Panasonic Group partnered with Fujitsu to build a centralized and scalable CFP calculation platform capable of supporting multiple business units while standardizing environmental data management.
The platform aims to:
- Streamline carbon footprint calculations across Panasonic Group companies
- Improve operational efficiency through automation and standardization
- Support compliance with evolving global sustainability regulations
- Enhance environmental data visibility and reporting
- Accelerate supply chain decarbonization initiatives
Fujitsu’s Sustainability Value Accelerator Powers the Platform
Developed under Fujitsu’s “Uvance” business model, the Sustainability Value Accelerator enables organizations to collect and manage traceable environmental data across industries and supply chains.
The solution goes beyond traditional carbon accounting by helping enterprises create transparent, data-driven sustainability strategies that align with evolving market and regulatory requirements.
Key Features of the New CFP Calculation Platform
1. High Interoperability and Scalability
The platform is designed to comply with international standards established by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the Partnership for Carbon Transparency (PACT).
This allows seamless integration between external systems while reducing the need for extensive infrastructure modifications. Panasonic Group companies can also customize input fields and workflows to match their operational needs.
2. Efficient Integration with Existing Systems
Fujitsu’s solution supports smooth integration with Panasonic Group’s existing digital infrastructure. The company will also provide ongoing operational and maintenance support to ensure long-term optimization of CFP calculation processes.
This standardized approach is expected to improve efficiency across multiple group companies while reducing administrative complexity.
3. Enhanced Environmental Information Disclosure
The platform enables efficient collection, storage, and analysis of CFP data across the entire supply chain. It supports:
- CO2 emissions calculation and aggregation
- Environmental impact visualization
- Automated reporting and certification generation
- Flexible traceability management
These capabilities will help Panasonic Group improve sustainability reporting and adapt quickly to changing environmental regulations worldwide.
Supporting Circular Economy and Sustainable Business Growth
Fujitsu stated that its long-term vision under the Uvance business model focuses on enabling value chain traceability across industries and organizations. The company aims to balance business growth with environmental responsibility by helping enterprises transition toward sustainable and circular business models.
In addition, Fujitsu plans to integrate advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Materials Informatics (MI) into the Sustainability Value Accelerator platform. These innovations will support the use of recyclable and low-impact materials while enabling smarter product development and advanced environmental data analysis.
The company also aims to create new sustainability-focused marketplaces that improve efficiency across the global value chain.
Fujitsu’s Commitment to Sustainability and SDGs
Fujitsu continues to align its corporate strategy with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company’s mission is “to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation.”
Through initiatives like the Panasonic Group CFP platform, Fujitsu is reinforcing its commitment to helping businesses achieve sustainability goals while maintaining operational growth and competitiveness.
